Happy Winter’s Chill!

A big warm hug to anyone who cares to read down the lines. This may make no sense to most of you, though.

“… LAKE ENHANCED SNOWFALL WILL CONTINUE THIS AFTERNOON… GENERAL SNOW ALONG WITH LAKE ENHANCED SNOW WILL CONTINUE THIS AFTERNOON. THE HEAVIER LAKE ENHANCED SNOW OF VARYING INTENSITY… THE SNOWFALL ALONG WITH WINDS GUSTING TO 25 MPH WILL COMBINE TO CREATE TREACHEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS WITH SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW. ADDITIONALLY… BITTERLY COLD WIND CHILLS OF ZERO TO 10 BELOW WILL PERSIST.” (Statement issued by The National Weather Service)

“Health Services, the Safety Department and the Environmental Health Office remind all students, faculty and staff that persistent sub-freezing temperatures projected for the next few days place everyone at risk for frostbite, hypothermia and other cold weather injuries. While outdoors, it is critically important to avoid wet clothing, particularly wet socks. Other body areas at particular risk include the cheeks, the tip of the nose, the top of the ears and fingers. Signs of frostbite include dull, whitish skin and impaired sensation. If frostbite occurs, move immediately into a warm environment and remove and replace wet clothing. Do not massage affected areas.” (Statement issued by a University)

Good luck and have fun! Over here the kids also had so much fun sledding and having a cup of hot chocolate for a day or two. Now it’s all white ice around us as the blowing snow is heading east!
